and Other Lessons Learned During The Oscars

Last night’s Oscar recap.

Kathryn Bigelow took home the Best Movie Award for The Hurt Locker. While I don’t agree that it was the best movie of the year, it was great seeing a woman not only claim that top spot for the first time, but also beat out her ex husband in the process. Lesson: Hawt chicks make great war movies.

Charize Theron was a supermodel before she became an actress, so why did it seem her stylists had a difficult time trying to dress this perfect ten? I don’t know, but I hated the dress. Lesson: Glamazon’s get muffin tops too.

Mo’Nique won the award for best supporting actress and she totally deserved it! She also delivered an amazing speech with it. Her final words “to forgo doing what is popular in order to do what is right” stuck with me. Lesson: Philosophy and the Oscars do mix.

Amanda Seyfried. She is ridiculously good looking. That is all.

Here’s the Globe and Mail’s top movies list

  • Avatar
  • A Serious Man
  • Precious
  • Up In The Air
  • The Hurt Locker WINNER
  • Inglorious Bastards
  • Up
  • The Blind Side
  • District 9
  • An Education

What lessons did the Oscars teach you this year? Let me know!
